The May Day weekend was a busy one for MFCC with races taking place all over the country. As usual, there is a lot of success to write about: First up was race #1 of the Aberdeen Evening Series on Thursday. Predicatbly, Kenny Riddle was in the right place at the right time and got himself in the winning break. In the end, he was beaten into 2nd place by the width of a tyre from Granite City’s Dave Anderson. Brian Widdison also scores a top10 finish from the sprint in the chasing bunch. Full results are here.   Over the weekend, Callum Finlayson decided to try out each step of the podium to see which was his favourite with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 3 races of the Forres Weekend. The 2nd place was from the 10 mile TT on Saturday with a time of 22:25, just 24 seconds behind winner Gavin Shirey (Dooleys Cycles).  David Smith (MFCC) riding his 2nd TT put in a great time of 23:01 to get 6th place. The 25 mile TT on Sunday morning was the top step for Callum, finishing in 56:28 at an average speed over the 25 miles of 26.5mph!  Then went on to finish 3rd in the afternoon’s hilly TT. Anne Murray put in consistently fast times all weekend and was 1st Female across all 3 events. Important changes to chaingang meeting point

Fellow MFCC members, forgive the long wordy email, but this one is important for you to read please. “We” as a club have been contacted by the land owners for the Culloden battlefield (NTS) and unless there is a change in what we do and how we behave we will no longer be welcome to congregate at the Culloden battlefield car park for our Thursday night chain gang ride. The issues are twofold. Firstly there is a health and safety concern regarding our group of riders gathering and blocking the access road into the battlefield main car park. An area just off the access road has been suggested and is probably only 30m from where people normally gather. See the attached map for details. People gather where the first few riders congregate. If you’re one of those first few riders make sure you stand at the off road area indicated, or ask people to please move to the correct area.This was happening towards the end of last season, but I’m not sure if people knew why we stood in a different meeting area. You do know why now and you all need to keep insisting that people gather at the right place. Secondly, the battlefield and the wooded area to the side of the car park are actually war grave areas. Previously (and I include myself in this) the wooded area has been used as somewhere to have a last minute “toilet break” before the ride. Calum Finlayson is the man to beat again as he wins the MFCC Cawdor 10TT. 1st Calum Finlayson – Moray Firth CC 2nd Andy Cowie – Highland Bikes RT 3rd Angus Claxton – East Sutherland Wheelers Full results here.
