Entry is now open for the 2015 MFCC Womens road race. Entry Closes on the 26th April 2015. This is the 3rd year the race has taken place on the Black Isle. Last year saw one of the largest women peletons in Scotland take to the roads around the village of Munlochy, near Inverness. Last year Hivelo and its partners (A4A Lottery, Scottish Cycling and NoSCA) jointly commissioned two independent studies to explore possible designs and a business plan for a low cost indoor velodrome serving the wider Inverness city-region. The results were positive and immediately made available to consultants advising Highland Council on the prospects for a new Regional Sports Facility to be located in Inverness. Those investigations were reported to the full Highland Council at its meeting on 12 March 2015. The Council has unanimously endorsed the principle of developing the new multi-sports performance centre. This will deliver ‘state of the art’ sports & leisure amenities for the public and elite competitors alike across the Highlands and adjoining areas. It will cut out the need to travel to the Central Belt or even further afield for regular training and competition. It will provide guaranteed all-weather, year round facilities in a highly accessible location. It will provide a safe traffic free environment for participants and sports officials to get the coaching, support and confidence needed, especially the young. The options feasibility study has recommended a preferred mix of sports facilities in the new complex. A raised 250m. indoor wooden cycling track is expected to form the main component. Four tennis courts will feature in the sunken infield, with judo, gymnastics and fitness/conditioning suites positioned in the track understorey. An indoor athletics complex including a 60m sprint track and warm up facilities is also incorporated. A number of sites around Inverness are available for these facilities, but the favoured location is adjacent to the existing Bught sports hub and Queens Park athletics stadium. ...

Entries are now open on the British Cycling Website for the Moray Firth Midweek Time Trial Series. The series comprises 4 ten mile time trials, with 2 races on the Daviot course and 2 races on the Cawdor Course. Round 1: MFCC Daviot 10-mile TT, 6th May Round 2: MFCC Cawdor 10-mile TT, 10th June Round 3: MFCC Daviot 10-mile TT, 1st July Round 4: Cawdor 10-mile TT, 5th August Entry for individual races is £12 (£6 for juniors, U16 & U14 are free) Enter the series of 4 events Enter all four events for the price of three; Senior – £36, Junior – £18, U16 & U14 are free To enter the Full Series, select that option in the entry for Round 1. The following 2 meetings, happening consecutively, are all about developing our sport in the North of Scotland. NOSCA EGM Sunday 1 March 2015, 14:00, Culloden Academy There are only two items on the agenda as follows and this is the only business that will be discussed: 1. Transfer of funds from NoSCA to Scottish Cycling North (SCN) 2. Termination of NoSCA. Immediately following the NoSCA EGM there will be SCN AGM to elect the committee. SCN will then be responsible for the development of all cycling disciplines within the North Region (Highlands and Islands). Scottish Cycling North AGM Sunday 1st March 2015, following NoSCA EGM, Culloden Academy The purpose of the meeting will be to adopt the terms of reference, discuss the development plan and formally elect members onto the new development group.
